We only use Whole Herb/Plant products, not standardized. Today the process of extracting "leading active ingredients" is common place and is called "Standardization." It's all the rage throughout the chemical and natural food industry. The theory is that if one dose of a "suspected" key ingredient is good, a large dose all at once of that ingredients is better. Not so! Those leading active ingredients are properly placed, by Nature, in proportions mixed with other ingredients to keep the herb in perfect balance synergistically. When taken in whole form, they present to your body a balanced solution.

Dr. Christopher strongly demanded his company only manufacture herbal products using the Whole herb, never extracting a single ingredient. He understood the necessity of using herbs the way nature had intended them, in their whole state.

We only accept Non-treated or steam treated Organic and Wildcrafted herbs when available (reasons for unavailability: endangered, out of season, failed crops etc.), and all ingredients are listed on our product label. We are 100% Pure. We do not use chemicals or chemical clones, added fillers/flow agents, or genetically modified ingredients that many companies use to cheapen their product for profit. As the saying goes "You get what you pay for". If you start with a cheap raw material, there is nothing you can do in the manufacturing process to improve quality. Sourcing high-quality ingredients for our formulas is key. Often we will receive a sample from a supplier and test results show that it does not contain active constituents in proper ratios so it is rejected and the sourcing process continues until the high quality expectations are met. Unfortunately, there are many that do not share the same high standards in the marketplace today and as is always the case we get what we pay for. We can't expect a cheap car to out perform and have the luxuries of a top-of-the-line vehicle, just as we shouldn't expect a cheaply made herbal product to benefit our body the same way the highest-quality supplements will.

Our vegetarian caps are manufactured with state-of-the-art technology, and made from a vegetable derived raw material. Our hard shell vegetable capsules are produced with Hydroxipropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), derived from wood and cotton fibers, which is certified as Kosher for year round and passover use by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America and meets all requirements of current USP and FCC (Food Chemical Codex). HPMC. They are considered Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by FDA, are non-ionic and sulfate free. Finally there now is a real alternative for vegetarians and consumers who are restricted by religion from taking capsules made from beef or pork byproducts.

Dr. Christopher Extracts are a 4:1 ratio (4 part herb to 1 part vegetable glycerin or pure grain alcohol). We use a Cold Percolation Process to ensure that no enzymes are destroyed. This extraction process preserves the natural occuring enzymes in the plant product. Unfortunately it's all too common for other manufacturers to use a heating process which destroys many of the vital nutrients and enzymes in the plant. Our glycerin is tested for DEG contamination and is DEG free, kosher, and derived from palm.

We do not rely on CofA's (Certificates of Analysis) from any source as we validate the identity of each plant and finished product through High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography to ensure their quality. Many competitors use IR (Infrared) to verify the identity of each plant. This method is cheaper, less accurate and does not have the ability to detect contaminates, such as pesiticides in the herb. We do Organoleptic testing and a full spectrum of Microbiological Testing on each plant and those tests include TVC (Total Viable Count), Yeast and Mold Counts, Coliform Counts, E-coli and Salmonella. Other quality assurance tests performed on our Raw Materials include High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography and Heavy Metal ICP-MS test.

A few Essential Oils Success Stories!

Garden Essence Essential Oils are 30% off this month, I like to try to add a few to my collection when we have the extra sale. We know quite a few people that belong to one or another of the network marketed essential oil companies, so I often hear some good healing stories. A recent one I heard was about a gal that had Graves Disease which causes hyperactive thyroid. She had the radioactive iodine treatment which kills off the thyroid, and went from having symptoms of overactive thyroid to pretty near dead thyroid function. After the fact she was quite concerned over what she had done to herself. A woman moved into her neighborhood that was into using the essential oils and let her know that Frankincense and Lemongrass would help bring the function back. She used it on her neck at thyroid area and a few months later, testing was showing some thyroid function returning, and several months after that even more function. Her doctor told her she would never be able to become pregnant due to the radiation and the fact that the thyroid controls the hormones in the body and her hormones were now messed up. She added Clary Sage to boost her hormonal function and a year after the radiation and using the essential oils she was able to became pregnant.

I had radioactive iodine when I was twenty Doctors never told me that doing such would make me infertile. Don’t you just love how doctors have their own agenda and don’t share everything with their patients? I was too young to even be thinking about this choice ruining my chances of ever becoming pregnant. So, here I am at 52, not planning on becoming pregnant, but am using the three oils to see what they will do for me. I sure would like to get more thyroid function back and get my hormones more balanced. It will be some time before I will be getting any thyroid tests done, but I will update when that happens. I love natural medicine and the fact that they can undo what unnatural medicine has done. I have tried for years to correct this problem with the herbs without success, so my hopes are up that I will finally succeed!

Another great healing story related to me was about a three year old child that suddenly started having about 20 seizures a day. The doctors put the child on quite a few medications which made her seizure free but unable to function, was falling down all the time, unable to talk normally, etc. Some friends heard about the problem and brought the family some Frankincense which they immediately started using on the child's feet. Within a few weeks she was able to get off all of the medication and remains seizure free, and is back to normal. Amazing!

From last weeks post I related that I have been fighting off some germies and actually succumbed by getting sick, a very rare thing for me! Time to make more Anti Plague

I used to go through a batch of Anti Plague in about 18 months. As you can see from this bottle, I made this batch in April of 2000. Wow, my family has come a long way, that bottle is over 11 years old! It smells, tastes and works as good as it did the day I made it. I got sick a few weeks ago and went through the last of what I had. I don’t like to be out of this wonderful little elixir, so it was time to make it again. We have a great Anti Plague kit on the mix-a-formula page. You need to purchase from a local source Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey & Garlic.

Simmering four of the roots, which were soaked overnight in the pans, I had to add considerably more water than 16 oz., so be sure to have enough distilled water on hand. Simmer for 30 minutes, let cool down a bit. Squeeze them out in cheesecloth to get as much liquid out as you can, then you are ready to simmer them down to a concentrate.

Stay in the kitchen while doing this, you don't want to walk away only to come back to a pan of air! There are 9 concentrates to make and that is a lot to make, it usually takes me two days to do this. Bottle them separately as you go. I keep them in the fridge and keep in mind that they need to be the same temperature when you put them together.

I like to use fresh Comfrey Root, because most of the dried root that you buy has the outer bark still on it which is quite bitter. Here I am scraping off the black bark, it takes a little bit of time but is worth it. We ended up with extra, so I made a batch of plain Comfrey Syrup which is great for people that can't handle the taste of the Anti Plague.

All the concentrates are ready to mix, the large tall bottle is the vinegar and garlic combo. I juiced a pound of garlic to get 8 oz. of juice and added it to the 32 oz. of vinegar. The dark large bottle is a jar of honey, I only used 20 oz. which left a lot in that jar. It is honey that my parents had, not sure how old, but honey is good just about forever.

All the concentrates, honey, glycerin, vinegar and garlic juice are all mixed together. Yup, it smells right! My whole house smells of Anti Plague, it is a different kind of Thanksgiving!

The Anti Plague is bottled and labeled. I keep it in the back of my fridge. It will be interesting to see how long this batch lasts. Dr. Christopher talked about making this and storing it for time of need. I'm glad to say that I just used eleven year old Anti Plague and it was still good! I really don't enjoy eating this stuff, but have become accustomed to the taste. My body really responds to this when I am unfortunate enough to get sick. Below is the formula, please feel free to call me if you need a bit of advise along the way. It isn't hard to make, just takes time, and is worth it!

Dr. Christopher’s Anti-Plague Formula

Using 4 oz. as a part will make a little under a gallon. If you are buying
one kit it uses 4 oz. as a part. Plan on the following:

8 parts apple cider vinegar - 32 oz.
5 parts glycerin - 20 oz.
5 parts honey - 20 oz.
2 parts garlic juice, fresh - 8 oz
2 parts comfrey root concentrate, use fresh if you have it - 8 oz.
1 part wormwood concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part lobelia leaf concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part marshmallow root concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part oak bark concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part black walnut bark concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part mullein leaf concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part skullcap leaf concentrate - 4 oz.
1 part uva ursi, hydrangea or gravel root concentrate - 4 oz.

To make concentrates:

Each concentrate should be made individually. Start by soaking the herb in enough distilled water to cover it, for four hours, over night if it is a root. After soaking, add more distilled water so that the total added equals 16 oz. water per 4 oz. of herb. I usually end up with at least double that, if not more water. Use a multiple of these amounts for larger batches. I used to get together with 2 friends and we would make 4 gallons and split it. They all moved, so now I just make a gallon for my family.

Simmer the herb on very low heat in a covered pan or double boiler for thirty
minutes. Then strain the liquid into a clean pan.
Put the liquid into a double boiler or on very low heat uncovered and
simmer it down to one-fourth of the original volume (4 oz.)
Only after all the ingredients have been prepared should the liquids be
mixed and be sure they are all the same temperature. It takes
me 2 - 3 days to get everything made, so I refrigerate the concentrates
until they are ready to mix. Use only stainless steel or glass pots.

I can get 8 oz. of garlic juice out of a pound of garlic when using my Green Star Juicer. Other juicers will likely need more garlic to get that much juice. If you don’t have a juicer use this alternative method: for the example of parts above amount use 2 1/2 lbs. of garlic - peel, blend in blender with vinegar (do not liquify). Let set for 4 - 5 days, shaking several times perday. Squeeze out liquid and measure. If needed add more vinegar to equal a total of 10 parts, 8 vinegar and 2 garlic juice.

Staying Healthy With Plant Based Vitamins & Minerals

I was recently tested by a ZYTO machine and one of the results was that my vitamins, minerals and other nutrients were high. The gal that tested me was amazed and said that I was the first person that she tested that had enough vitamins and minerals in them. I eat Vitalerbs, Herbal Calcium and Jurassic Green which are food based vitamins and minerals. On top of that I get a green smoothie in most days that is packed full of raw spinach, chia seeds and fruit, as well as getting in as much other raw foods as I can throughout the day. It was nice to get some proof that the herbal based vitamins are being used by my body and not just flushed down the toilet, and that my diet is making a difference! How to use Bulk Formulas

Dr. Christopher’s Formulas are available in bulk, most are available in powder and a few are cut. We sell quite a bit of the bulk formulas and often people will email saying, “I just bought _____ formula, what do I do with it?” I always assume that people have a plan when they buy any bulk herbs, so it always strikes me funny when people order it and then ask what to do with it. Learn how to make herbal preparations in the Herbal Preparations and Natural Therapies book and DVD set, it makes a great gift.

The first thing you need to know about Dr. Christopher’s bulk formulas is that they are sold as their original name. Adrenetone powder is the Adrenal Formula. AR-1 is the Joint Formula and so on.

Have a plan when you buy bulk formulas. I will use the cut to make either an ointment, syrup, extract or tea. Powdered herbs are for either capsulizing, mixing straight in juice or water, or making a poultice.

I like to get the BF&C Formula in cut, which is the Complete Tissue and Bone Formula. I make my own ointment in a Coconut Oil base, which I do because I am allergic to the beeswax. Coconut Oil on its own is quite healing, so I feel that making the BF&C Ointment with Coconut Oil makes it even better.

Cut BF&C is used to make a fomentation, which is a concentrated tea that is soaked in a flannel cloth and wrapped onto the area that needs healing. Some people opt to use the ointment or oil vs going through the work of making a fomentation, which works well too.

Calc Tea Powder is the Herbal Calcium Formula. I like to get the powder and mix it in with my Jurassic Green concoction. I don’t mind the taste, and most people find that it is mild enough tasting and nice to not have more capsules to ingest. I know of quite a few people that will just mix the formula into juice or water. I pick and choose, they have to be pretty mild, but it is a good option and a way to get more for the money.

Look and see which Dr. Christopher Formulas in bulk you may have been missing out on. Note that a pound of powder will make 1500 ‘0’ capsules or 1000 ‘00’ sized capsules. Tea Tree Oil to the Rescue!

Over the past few months I have had a strange problem with the inside of my
cheeks. It hurt like a canker hurts, but was just about the entire cheek on both sides of the inside of my mouth. My cheeks looked a bit red and not really like a canker, just felt like a huge one. I started out with taking l-Lysine which is what usually helps for cankers, and it cleared up for a while but then came back. It burned incredibly when I ate any fresh foods such as tomatoes, strawberries, oranges, etc. Not fun at all.

I have used Tea Tree Oil in the past for cankers, so I started just putting a drop or two on my toothbrush at night. Tea Tree Oil is the essential oil from the Australian plant Melaleuca alternifolia. This oil is anti-fungal, antibacterial, antibiotic, anti-microbial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Tea Tree Oil should be in any home and used for any infection or skin problem that crops up, so in this case a good one to try.

Tea Tree Oil really isn’t a tasty option, but I was clueless what the problem was, so decided to give it a whirl. First thing I noticed after a few days is that my teeth looked whiter. My two eye teeth have always been a bit darker in color than my other teeth, but now they are all the same color. I haven’t bleached my teeth, so they are just a nice clean natural color that I am now very happy with. I have had to continue with the Tea Tree Oil on my toothbrush nightly, but after about a month the insides of my cheeks finally cleared up.

I have also had a funny bumpy spot on my elbow that I have used Tea Tree Oil on, as well as other oils, all the ointments, etc. I quit messing with it a few weeks ago, got tired of nothing working, but the Tea Tree Oil that I was getting internally through brushing my teeth and having it in my mouth finally did the trick. It has almost cleared up and by the looks of it should be back to normal in the next few days.

Tea Tree Oil is a great little oil to have on hand, I keep the 2 oz bottle in the house and the 15 ml. for the travel kit. You
can really get your money’s worth out of a bottle, well worth it to have when you need it.

Time for you annual flu shot - NOT!

Back when my husband was lucky enough to be employed, his employer would bring in the flu shots and give them to employees at no charge. The first year they offered the flu shots everyone including my husband got the shot, and then everyone got the flu! The next year the employer offered it again, and my husband said no thanks. But everyone else in his department got the shot and again they all came down with the flu again and shared it with my husband! You can’t tell me that the flu shot is safe! You can now conveniently get a flu shot at just about every store that has a pharmacy. How convenient.

For many years we have worked more and more on improving our diet, and I can honestly say that in the past ten years or so my husband and Irarely ever get sick! Dr Christopher taught that the best way to avoid health problems was to eat what he called the Mucusless Diet. That diet today is called a plant based diet, and more and more people are eating this way. Last week I gave a link to a free viewing of Food Matters. If you missed it, it is available on instant play on Netflix. They also have another great documentary on food called Forks Over Knives which talks about eating no more than 5% animal based foods to stay healthy. These are great videos proving how much diet makes a difference in our health and it is the best preventative medicine money can buy!

Back to the flu and any other gomboo you hope not to catch with the coming winter season. The first thing to do is stock up on a few great winter remedies. My last entry was about how great I am doing using the Fenugreek for my hot flashes. I don’t have hot flashes at all anymore and stay a nice even temperature all day and all night long. Sweet relief! Since I take so much I can go through a bottle of capsules pretty fast so with the bulk on sale this month I decided to see what it was like just mixing it in water. I started with a level teaspoon and it upset my stomach if I took it on an empty stomach. I have found that I do well on 3/4 of a teaspoon two to three times a day. I sometimes don’t get a dose in the middle of the day and have done fine, no flashes. If I feel like I am too warm then I remember that I need to take it, but I have had none of the hot flashes that are so uncomfortable.

Since the essential oils are on sale this month I decided to be adventurous and order some oils I have never tried before. I got the Digestion blend and when I got the stomach ache from the Fenugreek I rubbed the Digestion Essential Oil on my stomach. Within ten minutes I was completely better and went on with my day. Last night I had the same problem with the Fenugreek on an empty stomach before I went to bed, so I rubbed it on my stomach and went to sleep. This morning my husband mentioned the lightening storm that we had last night, and I said, we had a lightening storm? Everyone was talking about it on Facebook, so it must have been quite a storm that I entirely slept through! I’m going to have to remember to use Digestion the next time I have trouble getting to sleep.

I got the No Mo Pain in the roller ball as well as the 15 ml bottle so I can remix it myself. I love this blend, I’ve mainly used it for muscle pain the last two weeks and look forward to using it for other problems. It works fast and smells great!

Fenugreek for Hot Flashes

I’ve been struggling the past year with hot flashes and have been having a crazy time getting my system balanced. I did well for over five years taking 2 Hormonal Changease twice a day, then suddenly it just wasn't’ working. I increased to 2 Hormonal Changease three times a day and that didn’t help, and even 3, three times a day gave me no relief. I added Female Reproductive and didn't get any result. By the end of January I was pretty tired of feeling dizzy all the time so went to an Ear Nose & Throat doctor. He felt it was a fluid imbalance in my ear (which I told him it was) and the medication he wanted to put me on would have dried me out and affected my eyes, so I didn’t do what he suggested, since dried out eyes are much worse than being dizzy!

I consulted quite a few of my alternative medicine friends over the next few months trying different homeopathic remedies, herbs, energy medicine, etc., but the dizziness persisted. In May my aunt who loves to forward all kinds of interesting tidbits emailed me about Aspartame Poisoning. I had read this report before and thought I would go ahead and save it, not intending to read through it at the time. I had the feeling that I should read it and so I did. I got to the bottom of the article and was going to save it and had the feeling of, read it again, you missed it! So I then thought to myself, it said vertigo, dizziness & tinnitus! I then read through it and felt “why did I do this to myself, I know better!” I eat a pretty good diet and avoid artificial everything all the time because I want to be healthy and you do that by eating nutritious food.

I had gotten into chewing gum when I started the HCG diet and most gum has aspartame in it. I really didn’t think that a piece of gum would hurt me, but a little piece of gum three or four times a day over six months got to be too much for my system. I continued to chew the gum on into May when I received the email. That very day I threw the gum away and I actually felt better that day and was totally symptom free within a few days!

The story continues because I thought at that moment that I should use all the cleansing herbs, but got hit with hay fever, so ended up working on those symptoms. I have done really well with hay fever for many years but now my symptoms were really bad and I was quite miserable. Last Friday I was lying in bed thinking, why do I have to have this crazy hay fever, when the thought came to me that I needed to cleanse. And I thought, DUH, I was going to do that, I need to get that aspartame poison out of me! It was 3:00 am at the time, but I got up and took the cleansing herbs and couldn’t believe the difference, the symptoms calmed way down right away! I have continued to use the cleansing herbs over the weekend and will continue with them for a month to make sure I get cleansed of the aspartame. The hay fever is better and better every day, and I feel I have learned a pretty good lesson! Good thing!

People tend to think the cleansing herbs are bogus and why should they use them? Well this little lesson I had is pretty good proof that there is a need to cleanse. Herbs for Blood Poisoning

It is pretty common to hear stories of people getting a bee sting or a mosquito bite and within a day or two the tale tale sign of blood poisoning appears with a red streak running up the persons arm or leg. Often what follows is a week in the hospital where the person goes through some pretty painful and gruesome procedures. It is the lucky ones that come home in tact, but sometimes the person ends up losing an arm or leg because modern medicine isn't able to get the infection down fast enough.

With natural healing the problem of blood poisoning is very simple to take care of. A weed that is found in many lawns is the cure; Plantain. Take a good look at the photo and remember what it looks like, so that if you find that you have a red streak running up your body you can take care of it. When you are at the park, or school, or on a hike look for Plantain and remember what it is used for. This knowledge can literally save your life.

To use plantain tear off some leaves and chew them up in your mouth and then apply them to the affected area. Leave it on the area and replace with fresh Plantain every few hours. Summer Time is Ointment Season

Summer is the time when the need for ointment goes up, with sunburns, over worked muscles, bug bites, poison ivy and other rashes, etc. It is important to have a variety of ointments in your refrigerator so that you have them when you need them.

My all time favorite and top of the list is the Complete Tissue and Bone Ointment, a must have for every household. Great for sore muscles, joints and carpal tunnel. This ointment works at an amazing speed to increase the of healing of abrasions, blisters, burns, cuts, sprains, broken bones, etc. I use Complete Tissue and Bone ointment just about every day rubbing into my knees and hips. Let Foods Be Your Medicine

The three herbs I am going to talk about are recognizable by most people as foods, confirming Dr. Christopher’s saying of “let foods be your medicine”.

Broad Bean is one that jumped out to me as I was not familiar with its medicinal use before adding the page. Broad Beans contain Lysine which helps to build immunity and combat and prevent fever blisters and herpes. Broad Beans contain L-dopamine, known to correct Parkinson's Disease and other shaking disorders. We have Broad Bean available in extract and bulk whole bean.

I love “juicing” but often don’t have the time to prepare the vegetables, much less juice them. Green smoothies are a much quicker option for me. Essential Oils for ADD/ADHD

I want to tell people about a great little essential oil for ADD/ADHD that has been added to Herbs First web site. Attention Deficit Disorder is close to my heart since I raised a very rambunctious ADD boy who is all grown up, yay! We worked on diet and used herbs to get him through his school years and I was quite relieved when he graduated from high school. He got married in December to a great gal and they love each other very much.

In a two year study (1999-2001) Dr. Terry Friedmann M. D. found significant results when children with ADD/ADHD were administered therapeutic essential oils by inhalation. The study was on children between ages six to fourteen. Each group was pre-tested using a baseline evaluation with real time EEG and the T.O.V.A. Scale. Each subject was tested on each oil for 30 days and then reevaluated, and then another oil was used for 30 days and reevaluated, until each of the oils had been tested.

The oil was administered by inhalation 3 times per day for 30 days. An inhalation device was also used at night to administer a continuous inhalation of oil. The inhalation of the oils settled the children’s brain waves back to normal patterns and improved scholastic performance and behavioral patterns.

Cedarwood increased performance by 83%

Results with therapeutic-grade essential oils for ADD and ADHD may help with focus, learning, calming and grounding. I would certainly remove sugar, artificial sweeteners, flavors and colors, processed foods and high fructose corn syrup from the diet keeping in mind that diet is essential!

Herbal Medicine is EASY and IT WORKS!

A few months ago I heard that a member of my church had surgery for kidney stones and ended up losing his kidney. I couldn’t imagine what happened and no one seemed to know what had occurred. This fellow came by to visit us in our home yesterday and related to my husband and myself that he had gone in for a kidney stone and that the doctor had messed up. The errors that were made by the doctor were not fixable, so he lost the kidney and needed bladder repair work done as well.

The sad part is, if people are educated this scenario would never happen. Our hearts go out to all the people in Japan that have been affected by the earthquake, tsunami and with the problems with the nuclear meltdown of the power plants. A few people have called concerning radiation causing thyroid problems. Its a well known fact when there is a nuclear disaster to take iodine pills to protect the thyroid. Mind Over Matter

I was talking to a customer who was ordering the HCG ezTrim when he mentioned that he is 52 and his joints are really hurting him. He felt taking the weight off would help his joints to feel better and I agreed. He went on to say that he knew things were going to be downhill from here on out, that he was going to have to live with not feeling as good as he used to, because that is what getting old is all about. This week I realized that I had a problem with mind over matter. About eight years ago I put all around my computer that I weigh 145 lbs, thinking that is the lowest I could ever hope for. My husband and I went cross-country skiing about a month ago, my first time in about fifteen years! I had forgotten that I need to wear a thin pair of socks under my heavy socks to protect my feet from blisters. About twenty minutes into our little adventure I knew I had made a mistake because I could feel the blister on my heel. Since I knew it was too late to do anything at that point I went as far as I could go before we had to turn back. I had a fun time and sure would have enjoyed a much longer time skiing had I been better prepared.

When we got back to the car I took off my boot to access the damage. The popped blister was about half an inch high by an inch long and hurt like the dickens. We dropped by the store to pick up some large Band-Aids and when we got back to our condo my husband and I discussed how I should treat this sore. I was a bit unsure so left it uncovered for about half an hour, where it was starting to dry up and I could tell that it would scab over, but with movement would be constantly breaking the scab. I went with my husband's plan to cover the band aide with Complete Tissue and Bone Ointment and replaced the bandage daily for a week. For a couple of days it was sensitive to the touch, but after a week the skin had re-grown and I could finally uncover it. I have used the Complete Tissue and Bone Ointment on unpopped blisters the same way and had them heal overnight. Much preferable to having them pop and have to go through a week of healing.

A few months ago my husband had gotten his finger badly pinched in a ladder. The fingernail looked like it was going to end up falling off since it had bled under the nail. He covered the fingernail in Complete Tissue & Bone Ointment to try to keep the nail from falling off. He was very diligent and the nail never fell off, but slowly grew out.

I think most people feel that sores should be left to the open air, that is certainly what my Mom taught me. I was amazed at the nice healing that took place in both instances. Dr. Christopher taught that with burns to keep the burn wrapped and apply the Complete Tissue and Bone Ointment (or Comfrey Paste) a half-inch thick or more over the entire area that has been burned, scalded, etc. Cover with gauze and bandage lightly. Observe area from day to day and if paste has been absorbed add more on top of the original application. Do not remove original, just add to it when needed. How to use bulk herbs

I will get an emails from people saying, “ I just bought (fill in the blank) bulk herb, what do I do with it?” Using bulk herbs is a great way to save money, and it is a good idea to know how you are going to use bulk herbs before you purchase them. Here are some of the ways that I use bulk herbs.

Powdered herbs are easy to capsulize and you can save the most money capsulizing single herbs. Compare the cost of the bulk herb and empty capsules to the cost of buying 15 bottles of capsulized herbs. Sixteen ounces of powder will fill about 1000 “00” capsules or about 1500 “0” sized capsules. I find that the “00” are easier for me to hold and get into the little capsule machine. The smaller size just frustrates me and isn’t worth it and I don’t mind swallowing the larger sized capsule. In the photo I have just capsulized twenty-four Kava Kava. I like to buy a bottle of the prepared herbs so that I have a bottle to put them in. I like to keep Kava Kava in my night stand, it is a great one for relaxing to get to sleep, especially helpful when my muscles are sore.

Another way I use the powdered herbs is added in with my Jurassic Green. We use fresh squeezed orange juice, I add Maca Root which contains over 55 naturally occurring, beneficial phyto-chemicals including important hormonal precursors and sterols. It is a mood and energy level booster and great for both men and women. Acai is a little purple berry packed full of antioxidants, amino acids and Omega essential fatty acids. Its antioxidant levels outranks nearly every other food on the planet, including; pomegranates, blueberries, and goji berries and sure helps the taste of my concoction. Quite often people that buy the single herb extracts will ask me how to make extracts because they are using so much that the cost is getting prohibitive. Making a single herb extract is easy and something that I do quite often. In fact a few weeks ago I was in the middle of making four different alcohol extracts and had so much Vodka sitting out on my counter that my family had thought I had lost my mind! Alcohol is the best way to preserve the medicinal value of the herbs and the extracts stay good for many years. Pictured I have Black Walnut and Pau D’Arco that I had left over from my Candida Cleanse. Black Walnut is an herb Dr. Christopher recommends for people that have problems with fungus or tumors and cysts. Black Walnut is high in potassium and people get tumors and cysts when they are low in potassium. Pau D’Arco kills bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites. Green Tea is a powerful anti-oxidant that inhibits the growth of cancer cells, and kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. I had bought it for weight-loss, but never used it, so made the extract to have on hand. The last one is the Elderberry extract, I talked about this one at the beginning of the winter. Elderberry is a well known immune booster, flu and virus fighter, as well as being high in potassium.

To make an alcohol extract use 16 oz. of Vodka per 4 oz. of dried herb. Put it in a glass jar with a lid and shake it three times a day for 2 weeks. I cover it with a towel to keep the light out. Strain it and put it in a glass jar, marking what it is and when you made it. It should be good for many years, indefinitely if kept in a cool dark place. We have empty amber bottles available 1 oz. 2 oz, 4 oz, 8 oz and 16 oz. sizes very reasonably priced.

Another way to use the bulk cut herbs is a tea. To make a tea with bulk herbs use a teaspoon per cup of water. Boil the water and then pour it over the herbs. Steep for ten to fifteen minutes, strain, sweeten if desired. I got this great little french press for Christmas and love it. It makes 4 cups of tea, the plunger is up when making the tea and then push it down to keep the herb from getting into the tea. Love it!

Herbs to help you stay healthy and Cold Tonic Recipe

This is the time of year that you have to keep on hand formulas to help you stay healthy and help you fight illness should you come down with something. While listening to Dr. Christopher’s Herb Lectures what Dr. Christopher said really stood out to me, “We do not use toxic, poisonous or habit forming herbs:”. I hope that people understand the importance of that statement. It is comforting to know that the herbs we are giving our children and ourselves are safe.

I know how frightening illness is when small children get sick, people can feel helpless when they don’t know what to do to help their children. I went through my own learning curve as a parent, and had experiences of going to doctors and figuring out that they usually couldn’t do anything except pat my hand and take my money. After a few years of this I decided that there had to be a better way, so I started visiting Dr. Christopher’s Herb Shop in Orem Utah where I live, and started using his herbal formulas.

One of the first formulas that we used is Anti-Plague (Super Garlic Immune Formula) and we went through gallons of it at my house. After several years of having a very sick family every winter someone said to me that Anti-Plague is for people that “let” their kids get sick. That gave me a lot to think about. The most important thing I learned is that it is easier to stop a cold at the first symptom than to get over it once you have gotten it. Now we recognize when we have a cold coming on and take herbs to boost the immune system, instead of waiting until we are sick when it often leads to worse symptoms. There are many formulas to choose from if things get worse, and at the top of my list is the Super Garlic Immune Formula (Anti-Plague). This is for people with a strong stomach and it is truly a life saver with its healing abilities. I make my own and have the recipe if anyone is interested. This is the formula that Dr. Christopher came up with for “plagues” and advised people to keep a good amount on hand for those occasions. The Chest Formula is a great flu formula, Herbal Cough Syrup and Respiratory Syrup are two great syrups that people can feel safe giving their kids when they are looking for a “cold and cough syrup”. I like to use the Glandular Formula capsules and massage oil along with the other formulas to aid in healing. I take a bottle of the Glandular Massage oil and add 25 drops of the 3 in 1 or X-Plague Essential Oil Blends to make an amazing healing oil to rub into my neck and feet. This is an easy one for kids to use and is one I use at the first sign of a cold along with the formulas mentioned above.

Another favorite is Echinacea and Goldenseal, Western Botanicals has it available in capsules as well as alcohol extract and syrup. Western Botanicals also has a great Flu & Virus formula, Herbal Cough Syrup and Herbal Super Tonic and their own version of Anti Plague in syrup as well as capsules which is great for people with a weak stomach that want the great healing power of this formula. It is good to have several different formulas on hand to use, since our bodies will react differently depending on the bug that is going around.

People that have a lung weakness should stay on the Lung and Bronchial Formula during the winter months to keep the lungs strong. I used to get Bronchitis every winter for at least six weeks, but since I started staying on the Lung & Bronchial Formula I no longer get Bronchitis. The Lung and Bronchial Formula is well worth taking every day for people with asthma, etc. Anti-Plague is a wonderful one for the lungs as well and is what I would take when I got Bronchitis. I have talked to many people with asthma and they feel that Anti-Plague has been a real life saver for them as it will stop an asthma attack.

Another must have for any family with kids is the Herbal Ear Drops. A 1 oz. bottle will last most families at least a year, get a new bottle every 2 years to keep it fresh. Many kids always get an ear infection along with the cold, usually a few doses will do the trick and help everyone to get a good night’s sleep.

Cold Tonic

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
1 part fresh chopped Garlic Cloves
1 part fresh chopped White Onion
1 part fresh grated Ginger Root
1 part fresh grated Horseradish Root1 part fresh chopped Cayenne Peppers or the hottest peppers available, i.e. habanero, African Bird, etc.

Fill a glass jar 3/4 of the way full w/equal parts by volume (i.e. a cup of each) of the above fresh chopped and grated herbs. Then fill jar to the top with raw apple cider vinegar. Close and shake vigorously and then top off the vinegar if necessary.

Shake at least once a day for two weeks, then filter the mixture through
cheesecloth and bottle and label. When you make this tonic shake it every
time you walk by it, at least once per day but the more the better.All the herbs and vegetables should be fresh (and organically grown if possible) and use dried herbs only in an emergency.

This tonic is extremely powerful, the dosage is 1/2 to 1 ounce, two or more times daily (1- 2 Tbs.). Gargle if you have a sore throat and swollow. Do not dilute, take it straight.

Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome and other Women’s Diseases that often result in Infertility

I talked to David Christopher recently concerning Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) because I know so many women that have it. I asked what is causing it and the answer is always the same, TOXINS. We really are living in a toxic world where the air we breathe, the food we eat and the containers food and drink are stored in, as well as the indoor pollutants coming off of carpet, furniture and other flooring materials are putting toxins into our bodies. This story broke out in the new this week about pregnant women and toxins:

"Alarming findings from a study on pregnant women and some potentially dangerous chemicals. A University of California, San Francisco study found that dozens of chemicals showed up in the blood and urine of expecting moms. Some of the chemicals like P-C-B's and ones used in flame retardants were banned before the women were even born. Out of the 163 chemicals studied, 43 of them were found in nearly all of the 268 pregnant women tested. The study is published in the journal of Environmental Health Perspectives. It's the first time researchers analyzed chemicals found in pregnant women."

They didn’t report how to get rid of the toxins, only that they were present. Even people living on organic farms eating all organic foods are found to have toxins. People tend to store these toxins in fat as well as create cysts and tumors to hold the toxins. Hence all of these disorders such as PCOS, fibroid tumors, etc. That is why in the HCG diet it is highly recommended to cleanse first. When people start losing the weight and they are full of toxins, where are those toxins going to go? The body may indeed start forming cysts and tumors to store the toxins when there is no place else for them to go. It is definitely something to think about.

Make 2011 Your Healthiest Year Ever!

I have many people mention when they call that their friends told them about Herbs First and the great healing formulas that we have. They ask if there is something for one ailment or another and they are amazed and excited to learn that we do. I know many people get frustrated with the medical system and the lack of progress they make when they go that route. People often mention how empowered they feel when they take their health into their own hands and are so happy with how well the formulas work.

I tend to be a people watcher and especially notice the health of people my age and older, noting that most of them are in pretty bad shape. Seeing this makes me work on myself more to be the healthiest I can be. I first started exercising after my Grandma lost her mobility after five years of a sedentary life. My husband and I have always walked, but that wasn’t enough for my health because I had constant back problems. When I started exercising my back problems went away. My husband didn’t exercise and I have bugged him for years to do it and now he is. I’m glad because we both need to be healthy to enjoy our later years.

Everyone is different and there is no way to know how long it will take, but hang in there and it will happen. Are you ready to lose weight for the last time?

Your journey begins as you purchase your first bottle of HCG ezTrim. As you await the arrival of the HCG ezTrim you prepare yourself fully by reading the diet protocol. Some people choose to cleanse before they start their diet journey, but many people skip this step and still have much success. You prepare your kitchen by disposing of all the tempting foods that have gotten you into this predicament, and learn about the meals that will be eaten.

Clearing up an Acidic System

This time last year was very stressful for me when my father passed away and dealing with all that comes with the passing of the second parent. For many months before he died I was on Mindtrac and I have continued to stay on it due to the stress that we continue to go through since the loss of my husbands job 16 months ago with his going back to school.

It is funny how our bodies will react to stress in different ways and it is up to us to figure out what to do about it. My family has way too much going on these last few weeks of the year and this weekend my body let me know in a quite uncomfortable way. My daughter recently got sick and posted on Facebook, “I’m not happy with whoever got me sick”. My kids were raised using these wonderful herbs but now that they are in their twenties and on their own they have become a bit stubborn about taking them. Eliminating Arthritis - Yes it can be done, I did it!

In the world of regular medicine the belief is that they can help you with the symptoms of arthritis (or any other disease), but there is no cure. I didn't want to believe that, and I am proof of the fact that Arthritis can be overcome.

Fourteen years ago I had a surgery where I lost 40% of my blood. I woke up hurting all over, the pain from the surgery wasn't anything in comparison to the head to toe pain I was in. A few weeks after I got out of the hospital I went to my doctor and told him of the pain I was in. I thought that I had picked up some strange virus - he tested my blood and found that I had full-blown Rheumatoid Arthritis. Over the years previous to this I had little bouts of arthritis for a day or two usually in my shoulder or knee, but this time was different. I wasn't using the Christopher formulas back then like I do now, so for the first year I was going from one product to another trying to get relief. I honestly thought that I would end up in a wheelchair because I wasn't getting any better. I had gout so bad in my feet that I couldn't wear shoes, so I wore sandals or slippers. My hands were so swollen that I couldn't open or close my hands and my strength was nonexistent, I was dropping things all the time. My feet, ankles, knees, elbows, hands and back hurt all the time and I would get flare-ups in my jaw that would make eating very difficult because my teeth couldn't meet to chew.

After that terrible first year I went into my local health food store which specialized in the Christopher products and started on the road to healing. I began with the Jurassic Green which I thought was a funny product to be taking for this problem, but after the first week on this grass juice I was 50% better. The inflammation came way down in my hands and feet, the relief was incredible. I could always tell if I forgot to take it because my hands would swell up and remind me. Jurassic Green is one that I still take today even though the arthritis is gone. I have found that it helps keep Kidney Stones from forming and hay fever gets less and less severe every year that I stay on it.

The other two products that I started on were Complete Tissue & Bone Formula (capsules & ointment) and the Joint Formula. The thing about these two formulas is they have similar herbs in them, so I thought that possibly one of them could do the job alone. I would try Complete Tissue Formula alone and would still be in pain, then I would try just the Joint Formula alone and I was still in pain. I found that when I took both of them together they took care of the pain as well as the healing. For the first few years I took 3 to 4 capsules four times a day of both formulas and then over time was able to cut back until I didn't need them anymore.

I also had to look at my diet and eliminated for the most part beef and sugar which seemed to be the two culprits that caused the most severe flare-ups. The herbal program was not an overnight program, or even a one month or a one year program. It took me a full four years to overcome arthritis 100%. I would add Dandelion capsules when the gout was really bad in my feet, it helped break up the uric acid crystals that made it feel as if I was walking on broken glass inside my feet. I would talk to people during the this time about what I was doing and they would say you have been doing this for how long and aren't all better yet?? They didn't wait for the rest of the story and I'm sure that those people are still dealing with the same pain that they were in back then. After taking classes at The School of Natural Healing I learned that cleansing would have helped me to heal much faster, as described in Dr. Christopher's notes that follow below. My hope is that people will learn that they can overcome Arthritis or any other disease, and that the Christopher products make that healing possible.

Eliminating Arthritis

Question: Can something be done besides just working on the effect of arthritis? Can't something be done to eliminate arthritis instead of just bringing temporary relief of pain?

Answer: Yes. Many people have had permanent relief from arthritis, not just temporary.
When we speak of arthritis we speak of a general term. Actually there are over forty different forms of this disease. They all stem back to a toxic condition of the body. The treatment of this condition must be from the point of reversing the cause by rebuilding the entire body to a higher nontoxic condition, as mentioned in the article on rebuilding and cleaning the bowel. It is inevitable that when an arthritic is badly constipated, the stiffness and pain are worse. The procedure is: (1) clean the bowel with Lower Bowel Formula, and (2) detoxify the body by clearing the blood stream of poor blood with the Blood Stream Formula, and have a good powerful flow of healthy blood coursing through the body to deliver food to the area and carry off toxic waste. Use our arthritis formula [Joint Formula].

Cayenne should be used six days a week, each week of program. This herb is, as are the others, a food and not a drug. Work up to a teaspoon of Cayenne three times a day.

Apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses are also beneficial. Use a tablespoon of each in a glass of distilled water three times each day. Take a tablespoon or more of wheat germ oil three times a day.

Remember to drink no less than one gallon of pure steam-distilled water for a person 130 lbs. or over, every day (less or more, one ounce of distilled water to each pound the person weighs).

For severe and painful joints or areas, the use of Complete Tissue & Bone Formula is useful.... The reaction on arthritis is this: the Oak Bark is an astringent and tones up the area, and it is also high in Potassium Chloride to keep the fibrin in motion and not allow further deposit accumulations. The Mullein and Lobelia work on the glands and lymph system to keep the area clear and ready to carry off unwanted debris; Wormwood relieves pain; the Scullcap keeps the spinal cord alert and working smoothly to assist in body motion; Comfrey Root is a cell proliferant, causing the good cells to grow rapidly and push off the dead cells and unwanted accumulations (note that in the syrup and capsules Comfrey has been replaced with other herbs due to the FDA - if you would like to use the product with comfrey then order the bulk BF&C); Walnut Bark is high in iodide and is one of the few plants specific in clearing fungus and is extremely high in Potassium Chloride for the blood and lymph, Potassium Sulfate for skin and mucous membrane, and Potassium Phosphate for the brain and nerve food. The Gravel Root is a solvent to leach off the inorganic calcification (from tap water and processed foods, etc.) and make place for the organic calcium derived from the Comfrey, Oak Bark, and some of the other herbs used in this combination.

We use this formula Complete Tissue & Bone Formula (BF&C) as a fomentation over the painful areas, and if the case is severe, follow the fomentation procedure mentioned in Curing the Incurables. Some of this tea, a cup or more daily, is taken internally with good results.

To make the fomentation stronger simmer the strained tea down to 1/2 its original amount (called 3 power) or simmer down to 1/4 its original amount (called 7 power). If you wish to drink some of the concentrated tea, dilute it with distilled water. Drink a cup or more of this tea each day.

There are many other aids to help, but space does not allow more to be given to this subject. Never use dry heat for arthritis, always use moist heat such as a hot water bottle wrapped with a damp towel, fomentations, etc. Dry heat solidifies the inorganic minerals into place, while moist heat aids in dispersing them. I have seen a lot of commercials lately for a gout medication and the kicker at the end is the long list of side effects, one being gout flare ups as well as liver and heart problems. I was hit with gout 15 years ago after a surgery, along with head to toe arthritis. Not a fun time in my life!

You might think the photo is funny but I felt like I was walking on broken shards of glass inside my feet. I could only wear slippers or sandals for about three years until I was finally able to heal the problem. I tried lots of other herb products for the first year and finally found Dr. Christopher’s formulas. The first week on his products I was 50% better. Jurassic Green was incredible for reducing the inflammation and I would take it twice a day to help with the swelling in my hands and feet.

I used Dandelion for the gout and it did a great job and have since learned that Hydrangea would have helped the gout much better, as well as the arthritis and calcifications that were quickly forming on my finger joints. Why would anyone take a drug that may cause flare-ups as well as heart and liver problems when you can take a simple herb that will take care of the problem and cause no harm? I’ll discuss more next week on the formulas I took to overcome the arthritis.

Losing more weight on my Third Cycle of HCG ezTrim

I hadn’t planned on doing another cycle of HCG this year, but saw a friend I hadn’t seen in a year and she has lost 100 lbs. and looks incredible. She mentioned that she had just started another weight loss cycle and I said, “even with the holidays here soon? “ and she said that is what she did last year. It got me thinking, why am I waiting until next year? A week ago I got going again. I have lost a few more pounds for a total of 56 lbs, if you count the loading weight I’ve lost 68 lbs. since the middle of May. I am getting pretty close to being where I need to be, I’m working on that little poochy tummy and then I’ll call it good. This is a photo of me at the Utah Olympic Park holding the torch. I feel like a gold metal winner already!

For people that might be ready to start another round you will notice that the HCG ezTrim tastes different. The FDA has made some rulings on the homeopathic HCG that it needs to be an alcohol base. I loved the mineral water base and it worked well for me, but so far with this new formulation I notice that I am NOT having the hunger problems that I was having with the mineral water formula. I also lost 2 lbs more this first week than the last cycle and half a pound more than the first week of my first cycle.

The last two cycles I didn’t experiment much with recipes, but this time I have been using the recipes from HCG Recipes Blog. One large chicken breast makes three servings, so I just washed and cut the chicken and dipped it in the “crumbs” and baked for about 18 minutes in the oven. I like cooking the meats in advance so was able to eat one and store two servings. It’s great reheated on the stove to keep the outside crunchy and sliced up over a salad. Its getting cold here in Utah and I love soup in the cold weather. The recipe for Effortless Cream of Chicken soup is really tasty and effortless. I have also been enjoying the apple crisp, not quite as good as the real thing, but a good substitute and makes me feel like I am having a nice treat.

I still have to mentally “get there” quite often, Halloween was really hard with the candy. We had plenty of trick-or treaters come and wipe us out, and that was a rough night for me. I went through a lot of gum, its not easy to not be able to munch on something. I was rewarded in the morning with a nice loss, so it made the pain worth it. Lots of people that see me are asking about the diet. Some have tried it and others are thinking about it. You really need to mentally prepare yourself for this diet, because old habits die hard. Keep committed to eat only the foods that are allowed and success will be yours!

I’ve talked to several people that aren’t losing weight like others are. The first part of the protocol talks about cleansing being HIGHLY recommended. The reason that cleansing is so important for weight loss is that fat stores toxins. So the heavier a person is the more toxins they have. If you aren't losing weight, the fat is holding on to the toxins for dear life, your dear life that is. The fat is protecting you from the damage that toxins can cause. Elderberry for Flu Season

I find it interesting that this year there hasn’t been a big mention in the news about some impending flu that is going to kill people by the droves. The past few years with the Avian, Swine and H1N1 Flues the media has been overboard on getting people to run in and get a shot. Many years ago my husband and I got a flu shot and ended up with the flu. They had offered it at his work, and everyone employed there came down with the flu. This employer continued to give the shot following years and my husband never got the shot again, his coworkers did and they again got the flu. My answer to Do you need Gas-Eze or Soothing Digestion??? is that you need to have both formulas on hand. I bought the Gaz-Eze
or the first time a little over a year ago and it has just sat in my cupboard since then. A few weeks ago my son’s gut was suddenly quite painful and he said he thought it was gas. I got out the formula and said, here try some Gas-Eze. He said he would be fine and walked away, only to come back an hour later asking to try it. He took it, the problem settled down and he woke up fine in the morning. About the same time the next day my gut started hurting and after a few minutes of excruciating pain I took some Gas-Eze. When do you need Immune System Formula vs Immucalm?

A few weeks ago in the Alopecia newsletter I mentioned that Immucalm is great for anyone with an autoimmune disease. A friend called me the next day asking if Immucalm would be helpful for his Fibromyalgia. I had no idea that he had Fibromyalgia and I certainly would have mentioned it to him had I known. He then said that he had been using the Immune System Formula and said that he thought they were about the same. Almost to my goal with HCG ezTrim

I have found that I really have to have a good sense of humor while on the HCG ezTrim diet. Alopecia

My nephew David has had Alopecia since he was a young boy, steroids are the norm for conventional medical treatment of this disease. Back to school for the ADD/ADHD child & parents

By August most parents are ready for their kids to be back in school especially if you have an ADD or ADHD child. On the flip side of that is the stress the parent goes through to get the child through the school year, no easy task and I’ve been there.

For anyone dealing with a stressful situation, especially parents of the ADD/ADHD child you need to take care of yourself first. My favorite formula for stress is Mindtrac which is great for the child, but also for the people that live with them. Coconut Oil, the Healthy Oil

It is interesting when two people get married that were raised in different families discover the kind of diet they will eat in their home. When my husband and I got married I mentioned that I eat wheat bread and he said he was ok with wheat bread. He won on on mayonnaise vs. Miracle Whip issue when after a year or so of buying both I gave in to mayo. We now use Grapeseed Oil Veganaise which is certainly abetter choice and we both feel the cost is worth it.

Over the years there has been a lot of talk about the fats that are good to use. Fast food restaurants were forced by the FDA to quit using animal fat to fry their foods and to use fats that were deemed to be the good fats. We now know that those supposedly good fats change when heated, making all foods fried in them very unhealthy. Coconut oil has been known as a healthy oil for many years, but a controversy was created making coconut oil look like one of the bad oils. The truth won out and now most people know that coconut oil is good for you.

Thank You HCG, I'm finally getting thin!

It is hard for me to admit to my readers that I am overweight, because people expect a person in a health related field to be thin. You can read more my story on my first post about HCG on the blog. I finished my first round of HCG on June 21st, just a few days short of six weeks. I’m very proud of myself, during the whole diet I stuck right to it, even attending a family wedding and spending a long day away from home. At the wedding I chose foods that adhered to the diet and the only ones available were fruit and vegetables which I did fine with. The day away from home we left at 6:00 am, I took food with me that I could eat and we had dinner at a restaurant where I chose a salad with grilled steak. I lost a total of 28 lbs in 37 days and went on Phase II of the diet where I added a variety of fruits and vegetables and fats and avoided all sugar and starch for three weeks.

It was a happy day to get to add more food and to get to eat avocados and make fruit smoothies. Fruit smoothies are a great substitute for ice cream and you sure feel better after eating one compared how you feel after eating ice cream. Thin healthy people make those right choices and this is what those of us with weight issues need to learn. I also was able to add my homemade sprouted wheat bread and did great on it. Sprouted wheat changes the grain to more of a vegetable than a starch besides all the other incredible benefits. I was able to maintain my weight loss during the three weeks of Phase II.

Two weeks after starting on HCG the first time, the book I had ordered, The Weight Loss Cure finally came. After reading it I wished that I had read it first, but was very happy that I had chosen to use HCG to lose weight. The author Kevin Trudeau talks about cleansing before the diet and after reading the book I agree with him. I did a Candida cleanse at the beginning of the diet and I feel that it has taken care of the Candida because I no longer have any sugar cravings. I ate sugar on the two loading days a few days ago and was amazed to not have that incredible urge to eat and eat more sugar. I feel that Candida has been a good portion of my weight problem giving me those out of control cravings for sugar. Anyone that has incredible sugar cravings would greatly benefit by doing the Candida Cleanse, which is easy and affordable.

The Weight Loss Cure also suggested drinking either Chamomile tea or Yerba Mate tea. Chamomile aids in digestion and bowel problems and is invigorating and strengthening to the body. Yerba Mate raises metabolism, suppresses appetite, and helps the body burn calories through its 'thermogenic' effect. It contains B vitamins, minerals, and 15 amino acids and is a powerful source of antioxidants. Yerba Mate increases energy, stimulates digestion, cleanses bowels and enhances memory. At this point in time I have lost 30 lbs. and have 25 lbs to go. I will stay on hCG until I am at my goal, which I hope will to be about six weeks. The Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system aids the immune system in destroying pathogens and filtering waste so that the lymph can be safely returned to the circulatory system. It removes excess fluid, waste, debris, dead blood cells, pathogens, cancer cells, and toxins from the cells and the tissue spaces between them. The lymphatic system also works with the circulatory system to deliver nutrients, oxygen, and hormones from the blood to the cells that make up the tissues of the body.

If you don’t keep the lymph system clean and working then obviously you are going to have health problems. I like to go for a quick 5 minute run any time I am feeling a bit tired, it wakes me up and gives me lots of energy. The Dreaded Anti-Plague

I was having what I thought was a severe hayfever attack a few weeks ago. I was using the Sinus Allergy Formula along with the Immucalm and by the third day I finally realized that along with the hayfever I had gotten a bad cold. The worst part about getting sick is it is harder to get rid of it once you have it.

I started taking the Infection Formula and Immune System Formula and after a few days realized that I needed to use something more powerful....the dreaded Anti-Plague, which is also known as Super Garlic Immune Formula. I call it the dreaded Anti-Plague because it tastes so horrible and I work hard to not get sick so I don’t have to take it.

I like to make my own Anti-Plague, and the stuff I had in my refrigerator was made back in April 2000. People often ask how long it will last because Dr. Christopher talked about making a batch to have on hand when you need it. I’ve never used it that old before, but I haven’t gotten sick in years, so still had it on hand. It is time to make up a new batch, because that was the end of what I had. I like to make it so that I can put the comfrey in it, which manufacturers aren’t allowed to do anymore. If you do get the powder keep in mind that the whole batch needs to be capsulized so that it will keep it potency Capsulized herbs are good for about ten years since there is very little oxygen in them to make them lose their potency.

I went to a Holistic Health Fair over the weekend and got to enjoy lots of raw foods including raw chocolate sweetened with dates, so good! One of the vendors had a bone density machine and I have been curious how my bones are doing since both my Mom and Grandmother had osteoporosis. The great news was that for my age my bone density level is above normal and the guy told me to keep doing what ever it is that I am doing.

I rarely ever drink soft drinks, which are well known for leaching calcium from the bones. To keep my bones strong I eat Herbal Calcium which is a great combo of herbs that are high in calcium. I have been faithfully using Christopher’s H erbal Eyebright Eyewash and Western Botanicals Herbal Eyewash Formula combined for about a month and half now. From the first day using it my vision has been much clearer, and now that I’ve been using the combined eyewash daily I don’t wake up with blurry problems from the cataracts. I have worn glasses since I was 2 years old and I don’t know if it will be able to correct my vision problems due to the fact that I had three surgeries as a child and I have a very severe astigmatism. My hope is that it will dissolve the cataracts and if it does more then that will be a bonus. I also mix up a tiny dropper bottle of the combined formulas and use it throughout the day. Its a busy life and this method works well for me. I’m going to continue on for a total of six months and then get a checkup and see how I am doing.

Last Friday my right eye was hurting a bit so I decided not to use the eyewash. On Saturday morning my eye was slightly red and I wondered if I had pink eye, but we were headed off to a morning wedding so we went on our way. As the day progressed every time I looked in the mirror my eye was redder and redder and hurt a bit more. I had a new experience this past week that I have never had before. I thought I was just having severe hayfever and all week, I had had a pretty bad headache that just wouldn’t go away, in spite of eating healthy, drinking lots of water, cleansing herbs, etc. By the end of the week my nose was very sore and somewhat swollen, so my thoughts were that I must have a sinus infection. HCG Homeopathic Diet Drops

When I was twenty I had a hyperactive thyroid. Since this was before I knew much about natural healing I went to doctor’s route with radioactive iodine to kill off part of the thyroid. Bad idea, and not one that I have been able to reverse through natural healing. Lesson learned, but due to a slow thyroid I have battled weight problems since that time and I’m not happy about it! I had about given up on weight loss, because everything I would try didn’t work for long. I have a slow metabolism and I decided that I'm just going to have to live with being a bit on the heavy side. I have kept my weight somewhat under control, but I was still carrying about 40 lbs.

Jeff our wonderful warehouse guy likes to bring in new products and try to get me to put them on Herbs First website. I would turn him down about 98% of the time. I feel we have the best of what is available, why confuse people with more products? In May he asked me if I knew anything about hCG and would I be interested in carrying it. I did know some things about it, mainly that it was shots given at a doctor’s office, which would never interest me, and that people are losing a lot of weight really fast.

HCG is an abbreviation for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin and is the pregnancy hormone that almost completely controls metabolic functions. This hormone allows the body to mobilize fat and use it as energy for both mother and fetus. HCG “tricks” your mind into changing its metabolism which helps burn the fat. HCG can be used by men and women.

My cousin who had her thyroid surgically removed has been successful with losing quite a bit of weight on hCG. I called her to get more info, asking what she knew about the drops, and she informed me that she had switched from the shots to the drops and was still losing weight. I felt that with our similarities that maybe hCG drops would work for me, since it involves a change in the metabolism.

I started the hCG diet seventeen days ago and have lost 13 pounds so far. The first thing I have to say is this is a hard diet. You eat only 500 calories a day, which is a pretty small amount of food. I realized when I started this diet that I was "popping" food more than I thought, usually healthy food, but all those nuts I like to eat are high in calories. Even though it is hard I haven't cheated once and I am proud of that fact. You need to stick to the food menus and not deviate from them or you won’t lose weight. Your body becomes immune to hCG so you can only use hCG for 21 days or 42 days if you use it only 6 days week. After competing the cycle with hCG you need to stay on 500 calories for three days while the hCG gets out of your system. For the next three weeks increase your calories but not eat any sugar or starches, and for the three weeks following that you can start adding in sugar and starches. By sticking to the protocol you will lower your setpoint to accept the lost weight. You can then start another cycle when the six weeks are done, but the next cycle after that you need to add 2 more weeks onto the six for every cycle that you do. Hence, the third cycle would be 8 weeks after completing the hCG phase, 4th cycle would be 10 weeks after the hCG phase and so on.

If you are interested please read the protocol and Pounds and Inches book by Dr. Simeons who founded the diet. This diet has been around since the 50’s in Europe and has continued to be a successful plan for many people. I know quite a few people that have had stomach by-pass surgery and none of them are healthy today. HCG is a much better alternative for people that want to lose weight quickly. There are many recipes on a blog to help you with meal planning. Planning is the key as well as sticking to the diet.
